Tingly Tan

tan.jpg

People who have pale skin prefer to get a tan, and they would take every chance to stay under the sun. Those who don’t want to be seen with their pale skin use indoor tanning lotions and complete the tanning process with a tanning bed. Tanning lotions enhance the production of melanin in the skin, producing a darker tone.

There are several ingredients that give the tanning effect. Ingredients that “tingle”, or irritates the skin to cause reddening may be uncomfortable to some individuals. Bronzers is another ingredient that is sometimes combined with “tingling” agents. Common bronzer is dihydroxyacetone (DHA).

The compound promotes elastin and collagen production on the skin hence the product promotes younger skin and can reduce wrinkles and age spots when used regularly. It also has the ability to induce the production of glycosaminoglycans (hyaluronic acid for example) a very powerful anti-oxidant that is produced naturally by the brain that aids in our skin’s health and development. Copper, the base element on which the compound is derived, also has influence on the human body’s regenerative functions thus allowing faster tissue regeneration in high enough doses. It is still under study for it has very powerful effects on the body’s regeneration functions it can even get rid of damaged skin, inducing the natural renewal system of the body to kick in high gear.

DMAE – A Fishy Tale

The substance Dimethylaminoethanol or DMAE for the rest of us, is a naturally occurring substance produced by the brain and is also referred to as a sort of “Brain Food”, present in fish and other sea bound creatures. The compound has the ability to induce the production of acetylcholine that allows proper brain function keeping the brain young and the body active. It has a very good effect on skin, on which it has been shown to reduce lines and wrinkles in a shorter time compared to other skin care products. Combined into a topical cream, it can be applied onto the face, such as on wrinkles, age lines and spots, promoting regeneration of the skin allowing it to maintain it’s youth for many more years to come.

First brought to life when a reporter came to a small Japanese town noting the utter perfection of the health and skin of elderly people who live in the area which warranted further study into their overall health which was traced to their diet. These people dine on many root crop vegetables that are known for their unique starches and other anti-oxidant components that were derived from pristine areas not touched by pesticides and other man-made chemicals. Tea Tree Oil + Silver Nitrate = Better Antibacterial products

teatreeResearchers have found that the effectiveness of tea tree oil as an anti-microbial agent is increased greatly when combined with silver nitrite. The common adage that says more is better seems to go the opposite with these compounds which have been found to be more effective when combine in very low concentrations than more potent mixtures. The mix has been found to be effective against infectious skin bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus which is known to be a common cause of skin infections and abscesses, along with Candida albicans that is the major cause of thrush. The combined agents were found to be toxic at high levels which prompted the researchers to use a different approach, lowering the concentrations till they found the best possible combination. Administered to infected wounds, the low concentrations allowed controlled release of the active ingredients minimizing toxicity and thus becoming more effective.
Both have very good anti-microbial abilities, but used alone and in high doses, they have been found to cause severe side effects such as irritation and more. combining them and lowering their concentration in a solution complements each other to make one good anti-microbial/anti-bacterial agent for future skin treatment products
