Lead in Lipstick – Dangerous?
It has been years since the issue on the presence of lead in lipsticks was raised. While it is true that lipsticks contain small amounts of lead, medical experts say the amount will not cause side effects. But it is also a fact that lead accumulates in the body over time – once lead enters the body, it is never flushed out. Lead ingestion has been associated with birth defects and neurological conditions.
Some major brands contain more than the allowed level of lead by the US Food and Drug Authority. Check out this study made by Campaign for Safe Cosmetics.
